Cultural studies is concerned with describing and intervening in the ways in which texts, discourses, and other cultural practices are produced within, circulate through, and operate in the everyday life of human beings and the institutions of society. Our range in Cultural Studies extends to cultural studies of science and technology, aesthetics and cultural studies, feminist cultural studies, film studies, reception theory, cultural policy studies, Latino/a cultural studies, and visual culture. Many of us are involved in theory-driven intra- and interdepartmental initiatives. Cultural Studies Theory: the theory that dominant groups in society privilege their own interests and impose their ideologies on less powerful groups (click on the icons to learn more) study, I accordingly examine the specific origins of British cultural studies, its genesis and trajectory, and imbrication with social theory.
